for Small Group Affiliates

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SEMINARY COVENANT COMMUNITY (SCC)


Seminary Covenant Community (SCC) is a body duly organized for and legally able to:
Provide a 501c3 covering, Spiritual Direction for individual and organizational accountability.

Each organization is a subordinate of SCC and will be a part of one of the following divisions:

 
  1. House Church, Micro Church, Home Fellowships:
            Independent Small Group Churches or Networks of small groups churches.

If you are a organized church or intend to hold weekly services at a specific location other than homes or have a educational, ministry, mission or charitable organization please review those instructions and follow those for a incorporated organization.

 Ministries - has a long-term focus on a specific population or social need

 Missions - are organizations with the primary objective of reaching or evangelizing a demographic population, region, or country, specifically short-term projects.

Charitable - Are organizations for charitable activities and scientific, medical, or social services operating with Christian ethics and values.

Individuals and members of the above organizations may choose to be part of SCC:

  1. Individual Members are Disciples, Ordained, Certified, or Commissioned Members are persons recognized with the call or functions of; Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Bishops, Elders, Deacons, Certified as Teachers, Administrators, and support by participating in our small group ministry. They can be part of either directly or indirectly in one of our affiliate or member organizations, with the intent of fulfilling the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20: Referred to in the SCC Bylaws as Great Commission members.

  1. Race, color, national origin, or gender is not a criterion for membership or Ordination.

Seminary Covenant Community (SCC) will accept applications from all who apply. Still, at the discretion of review by the Board of Approvals, an applicant may be required to provide additional information, be declined for any reason, or be approved and accepted into membership.

Small Group Ministries:
FIRST:  The lead applicant of a small group must be Christ-centered, the person called by God to the mission. SCC has to ratify and validate this call and the desire of the applicant to be a part of the SCC fellowship.

SECOND:   SCC and its constituent members are committed to forming and organizing House Church or (small group ministry) ministries. Each applicant must be wholeheartedly committed to small group life and practices. This must be demonstrated over a specified period of time by a commitment to a Small Group by actively participating in the life of a group as a member, preferably as an assistant leader of such group, or even as a leader. This includes participating during this time in any meetings of leaders or co-leaders or training sessions.

 
  1. Such small groups shall be of the style and purpose envisioned by SCC, i.e., groups are a means of evangelism and a means of ministry in the local community.
  2. Agree with SCC Statement of Faith and By-Laws.
  3. Agree to and sign an Affiliation agreement

THIRD:  Each group must submit in writing an:
 
  1. A completed Application for Group Affiliation,
  2. A signed Group Affiliate agreement and a Order of Faith and Practices
  3. References from 3 or more persons who have known the applicant for five years or more
  4. Where required, a ministry plan.
  5. Can demonstrate the ability to carry the ministry to fruition.

The affiliate applicant must demonstrate in a written or oral examination before an evaluation board chosen by SCC regarding the ability, desire, and vision of the assignment and related experience. If no experience a commitment to training in the model and practices of the small group ministry.

Individual Leadership Members:
Leadership for small groups are identified by levels of experience and skills.
They are
Associate Group Leaders - Participates in facilitation of the group. Usually in training
Group Leader - The primary leader of the group
Elder Trainer - Trains Assistant and Group leaders how to facilitate and lead a group and provides oversight of five groups
Spiritual Elder - Provides Spiritual Oversight of up to five training elders and up to 25 groups.

FOURTH:  Each applicant may, for a specified period, negotiated on a case-by-case basis, serve under a Group Leader. Training Elder or Spiritual Elder selected by SCC who will report back to SCC an evaluation as to the applicant's leadership skills and ability; ability to be under supervision, teachable; ability to cooperate; servant's heart, communication skills; counseling and evangelistic skills.

FIFTH:  Each applicant during the evaluation period must demonstrate and testify by personal life fitness to be a leader, including but not limited to; marriage, family, personal habits, and stewardship in all phases of life. Specifically applicant:

 
  1. Must not be a new Christian - must have an adequate number of years of demonstrated walk as a born-again believer.
  2. Must have no sexual relationship outside of marriage, whether adultery or any other promiscuous relationship. Marriage is defined as: between one man and one woman.
  3. Be no drunkard if using alcohol in moderation and be committed to the principles of Romans 12:1-2; 14:13-21.
  4. Be no lover of money- one with good credit and a good reputation in handling money.
  5. Have a good reputation in Christian and non-Christian circles.
  6. Have a well-behaved family.

Each Group will have a membership site for management of the group and communications. The members of the group may make their tithes and contributions through the Groups membership site. The two-thirds of the funds will be set aside for the Groups use. One third is designated for the operation and fellowship of the group and one-third is designated for a ministry of the groups choice.

SIXTH:  Upon application having been received and soon as it has been satisfactorily completed-it shall go to the Board of SCC, who:

 
  1. Will indicate any additional items needed for the application.
  2. When the application has been completed, SCC will decide whether the applicant will be accepted.
  3. An option of a  non-ordained leader of the group becomes a candidate for Ordination. An application for Ordination or recognition of Ordination may be required. An appointed evaluation board shall examine the applicant's academic records and accept them as satisfactory or conduct a written or oral examination to determine that equivalency has been demonstrated. If the evaluation board determines a need for additional study or work, they shall lay out a program with the applicant and oversee the conditions are met, including a timetable.
  4. SCC shall see that a mentor, spiritual director, or overseer is selected to work with the applicant throughout the process to provide an evaluation to the SCC evaluation board.
  5. The board of SCC shall before it decides that SCC will accept an applicant/ candidate, must receive:
    1. Satisfactory report for the evaluation board that academic or equivalency has been met;
    2. Satisfactory information from the evaluator selected by SCC, who may be a pastor, mentor, spiritual director, or overseer,
    3. A firm commitment in writing that the applicant/candidate subscribes to the constitution and by-laws of SCC and its statement of faith. Makes a firm commitment to, at all times during service as an affiliate under SCC, to be a part of, preferably as leader of, a small group of a constituent church in the SCC fellowship.
    4. The applicant also makes a firm commitment in writing to continuing education under the guidance of SCC.
    5. Agree to file an annual report to SCC of the affiliate's progress and attend the SCC Annual Convocation.

SCC Independent House Church, Micro Church, Home Fellowship, requires a Minimum annual pledge of $240.00 or $20.00 per month. Group Application site setup fee $150.00

ALL APPLICATION AND PROCESSING FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
It will be billed automatically
 upon completion of the Application process and the final submit is activated.
The process takes approximately 10 Days unless there is further information required.
